Instagram has everything from highlight clips to highlight shots to fun new filters, which is enough to keep every Instagram user busy.
Plus, Instagram users can now show off their unique reactions by sending photo replies to DMs!
So, how do you respond to a photo on Instagram?
Send a photo reply on Instagram
If you want to send a video of yourself laughing instead of a “LOL” text or send a photo that matches your mood from your gallery, Instagram has your back!
In the 2021 update, Instagram came out with features including visual replies to messages that let you send video and photo replies to direct messages.
Like Snapchat, photo replies can be temporarily available for just a few seconds or saved to the chat to be safe forever.
Here’s how to use this feature to send photos as replies to direct messages on Instagram:
- Open the Instagram app on your mobile device.
- Go to your Direct Messages (DMs) section by swiping left or clicking on the Messages icon in the top right corner.
- Open a direct message to which you want to send a photo reply.
- Tap the blue camera icon in the lower left corner.
- You can take a photo or record a video. You can also add media from your gallery.
- Change the privacy setting as you wish by clicking on the play button icon at the bottom left of the screen. You can choose between:
- Allow restart.
- Stay in the chat
- Change the single view privacy setting.
- Click “Send” in the lower right corner to send the photo.
