Instagram recently introduced a Memories feature for its followers that reminds them of a post that is a year or more old. You will receive a reminder in the notifications tab to “see a post on a certain day”. Even though there are no default settings for resharing a post, you can still share a photo/video using your Story or Main Story.
How to find your memories on Instagram?
Like many social media platforms, Instagram continues to improve its app for users in order to better engage users and keep them using its services. One of the many features is “Memories”. Shows a post you created in memory of them a year or so ago.
However, unlike Facebook, the default setting for this Memories feature is to remind you. You can’t share it directly and tell your followers that it’s celebrating something.
However, unlike posts, stories are a little different. When you post a story, it stays there for 24 hours and then goes to the archive which you can find in your Instagram settings.
In this archive, you’ll find your stories from years ago, which come with “On This Day” tags. Unlike posts, you can reshare the story and add an “On That Day” sticker to let your followers know when the video/photo was taken.
How can you Post Memories from your story archive?
Before you can share posts from your Stories archive, you first need to know where the archive is located on Instagram. If you post a lot on your Stories, you’ll see every post you’ve ever made since the beginning and when you made it. To access your story archive, follow these steps:
- Launch your Instagram and go to your profile page using the profile icon on the far right side of the bottom navigation bar.
- Click on the three-line menu or hamburger menu located in the upper right corner of the page.
- Click on the Archive tab.
- Select “Archive Stories” from the drop-down menu.
On this page, you’ll see ‘Memories’, and here you’ll see a collection of stories from a year ago and more. From here, you can share the memory with your followers or circle of friends in the following steps.
- Scroll to the photo/video you want to share. Scroll to the video you want to share.
- Click “Share”.
- Edit.
- Share it in your story.
- Once done, you can click the share button to see your friends and followers.
